Book Review: Halo Found Hope

Halo Found Hope is one of the best books I have read in a long time.  This memoir tells the story of a busy wife and mother who is diagnosed with a large brain tumor, how she and her family deal with the fact that she could possibly die and how God continues to be a present help through each new day.

After experiencing some strange symptoms, Helo Matzelle is diagnosed with a very rare brain tumor that requires surgery that is so sensitive, a specialist is brought it to perform it.  What should have been several days in the hospital turns into several weeks after Helo experiences swelling on her brain.
Helo truthfully tells her story about the emotional ups and downs her family went through while she was in the hospital, the aftereffects of the surgery, and how grateful she is to God for her being alive.  By the grace of God and the love of family, she is living a victorious life.
Halo Found Hope is very well written.  Helo is very detailed about the days leading up to the surgery, what happened while she was in the hospital, the day to day realities of her “new normal” and the joy of “silver linings”.  This book made me think about what I have gone through in life, what may happen and how I know that God will always be there.  I do appreciate Helo’s honesty regarding her ordeal.  I especially love the ending of the book which shows that our hope is in God alone.  I highly recommend this book!
